Freedom of Expression – Grafik Media Network

Freedom of Expression

The media recently has been playing up Colin Kaepernick’s refusal to stand during the national anthem before a preseason football game. Many people are pissed off with him for not standing and some are showing support for his right to express his views. This is what’s great about America, the freedom to show how you feel.  Some countries you aren’t able to do so and that my fellow Americans is what makes ‘America Great’ still. Not the stupid slogan of Donald Trump saying “let’s make America Great Again”. That statement if you read behind the lines is saying ‘let’s make America White Again’ to many people.

Now back to Kaep for not standing and making people around the country mad. First off it’s his right to express how he feels on what’s going on in this country.  Let’s face it, there are many problems in this country and it feels like the politicians in Washington are ignoring the bigger issues that we face. Kaep picked the biggest stage to show what and how he feels, in the NFL. It doesn’t matter what color you are, if you are not white in this country many feel they don’t get a fair shake and feel mistreated. Many people have shown support for his actions and it didn’t hurt that his jersey sales on the NFL website has sky rocketed.

The other part of the American people especially some of those who have served for this country feel very much offended. They feel he doesn’t know what he’s talking about or even know what it feels like to serve for America.  That he’s a spoiled athlete making millions while we have soldiers serving this country all over the world and protecting our freedoms. You have seen many people burn his jersey on the net and saying why they don’t support his actions. They as well, have the right to express how they feel about him and his actions because this is America and you can too.

Now the final analysis of this is merely my opinion. I don’t agree with his actions, but I do think we have a problem with how people of color are treated in America. Prejudice and racism is a big problem; one I think will most likely never change because people are just too uneducated on many levels. I think he could’ve picked a better platform for his actions, but at the same time it was the best platform to make a statement.  Some say he’s an overrated QB in the NFL and doing this trying to somehow revive his career that is slowly fading.  Time will tell if his actions will cost his NFL career, but either way he’s action brought the attention that minorities are not treated fairly in this country. Remember everyone this country was built by immigrants and we all have ‘Freedom of Expression’ in this ‘Great America’.
